What Makes This Recognition Meaningful?
Evaluated by the people they lead
Confidential team feedback captures real experiences of a manager’s leadership, beyond nominations and self-assessments.
Built on a research-backed framework
GMI’s Connect, Develop, Inspire© framework brings together 24 observable behaviours to assess how managers connect with, develop and inspire their teams.
Informed by demonstrated people practices
The evaluation considers both confidential team feedback and submitted people practices, offering a broader view of how managers put their approach to people leadership into action.
Benchmarked against 1,00,000+ managers assessed
Built on Great Manager Institute®’s extensive experience assessing people management effectiveness across organisations.
How the recognition works
A structured process. Recognition that must be earned.
Team Feedback and Self-Assessment
Managers reflect on their own leadership behaviours, while their direct reports share confidential feedback on their experience of the manager. Together, these perspectives build a fuller picture of leadership in practice.
Feedback Validity
Meaningful recognition depends on thoughtful feedback. An inbuilt validity mechanism checks whether respondents have engaged mindfully with the survey, helping ensure that the feedback provides a meaningful basis for evaluation.
People Practices
Great people leadership is reflected not just in how teams experience a manager, but also in the practices managers put into action. Eligible managers submit people practices that demonstrate how they connect with, develop and inspire their teams.
Final Evaluation
The final evaluation brings together team feedback and demonstrated people practices to determine inclusion in India’s Top 50 Women – Great Managers to Work With® 2026.
Why Dedicated Recognition for Women Managers?
The Pipeline Gap
Women managers are underrepresented in recognition pools. This list corrects for that.
The Visibility Gap
Strong performance alone is not enough if the system isn’t designed to surface it.
The Role Model Gap
When women see other women recognised at every level, it signals that the path is possible.
